Houston Poly Bag
Background:
Houston Poly Bag had a problem. The manufacturer of polyethylene can liners and specialty bags had hit a wall of out-of-control prices for its corrugated packaging cartons and was nearly bursting out of the walls of its existing warehouse space.
Objective:
Reduce the amount of warehouse space required for carton storage, thereby increasing capacity for finished goods inventory. Also, meet the client's industrial packaging needs at a competitive price.
Solution:
Drake developed an inventory management program that allows Houston Poly Bag to maximize its existing finished goods warehousing, eliminating the potential need for a warehouse add-on. By managing inventory and replenishing at predetermined levels, Drake slashed space dedicated to carton storage while also supplying the cartons at a lower price.
Results:
Thanks to increased inventory efficiency and lower packaging costs, the client has added two new extrusion lines to its product offering, increasing business by 20 percent all while remaining in its existing facility.
