Background:
It pays to go a little wild sometimes. So when global appliance leader Electrolux asked Drake Container for a retail package that would create a buzz over its Poulan® Wild Thing chainsaw, Drake rose to the challenge with a package that could also be used as a display.
Objective:
Create a wedge-shaped carton display that would simulate the Wild Thing hard at work slicing through a tree stump.
Solution:
Through the innovative merging of graphics and structure, Drake worked closely with the client's marketing team to create a one-of-a-kind wedge structure that could be direct large-format printed in five colors with a full UV coating applied in line. The Drake team even hit the woods to photograph pine bark to produce the most realistic graphics possible.
Results:
Drake succeeded in cutting through the competitive clutter with an eye-popping display featured exclusively at one of Electrolux's largest retail clients, Wal-Mart®. Due to its unique shape, it also created logistics efficiencies, offering a 29 percent increase in warehouse utilization and a 25 percent freight savings.
